I Don't Follow The D-mned Formula

Here's a little bit about me for those who are seeking to employ a professional graphic designer/illustrator, and require that they have a formal education plus a college degree in order to be eligible for hire. I studied commercial art in a school of art back in the sixties. Whatever I learned in my four years there is now completely useless! From then on, everything I know about my profession is self-taught. My work is nor cookie cutter; nor is it formulaic. I came up with my own solutions for creative work that C/Ds and A/Ds of big ad agencies like BBDO, Publicis, Dieste, JCPenney, Weber Shandwick, Janimation, ReelFX, etc. brought to me. My greatest strength is as a storyboard artist, and I never had formal training for it. I just knew instinctively what to do and how to do it - with dramatic and dynamic flair! Right after I started using a computer and wacom tablet in 1999 I got freelance work as a storyboard, and then a conceptual artist. I remade myself over and over, transitioning to logo/avatar creator; then transitioning again to finished illustration. All the art director had to do was explain their project agenda, by email, text or phone, and I quickly caught on. In a nutshell, what I'm trying to convey, is that I'm really tired of recruiters insisting that I, as the submitting artist, invariably need to follow some rigid formula in order to be considered eligible for work. I ask to be judged by the art on my website pages - not by degrees or certificates or diplomas!
